Participants can undertake the PW Proficiency course as part of a group or on a private 1-to-1 basis with an instructor. Whether you would like to get more out of your own PW or are keen to learn the ropes before buying one, or want a great day out with friends or family with the added bonus of everyone learning how to safely use a Personal Watercraft, this course covers it all. No previous experience is necessary and the course will give students the confidence and knowledge to safely operate a personal watercraft.
The RYA PW Proficiency Certificate is recognised by most UK insurers, many of whom offer a discount to holders. Many local harbour authorities, Tor Bay included, offer launching discounts to holders and some UK harbour authorities will not permit you to launch without one. You must have the certificate if you plan to use your PW abroad.
The courses are run by Simon Gliddon, Centre Principal, and Neil Rickard, Chief Instructor, in a fun and enjoyable manner at a pace to suit everyone in the beautiful and sheltered waters of Torbay. If you don’t yet have your own ski we can rent you one of our current-model Yamaha demonstrator machines for the course. Maybe you’d like to get involved in the sport but have never even sat on a PW? No problem – this course is for you too!
